Electric vehicles, insurance telematics and ride/car-sharing are recent foci of startup activity in Silicon Valley.  In 2011 Silicon Valley Nissan Leaf owners have produced a sufficiently compelling driver display that Nissan sent staff from Japan to examine it. Telematics and car-share start-ups are not only installing new software in vehicles but controlling vehicle behavior via the CAN bus.The nascent Right to Repair movement is a sign that awareness of vehicle software security issues has reached the masses.  How might traditional industry players best work with these new actors? 
The venture investment community that recently brought forth social media has now noticed IVI.  New technologies will change the way OEMs interact with both customers and dealers, as government regulators address concerns like automotive data privacy and driver distraction.  The audience is engineers and managers who are curious about U.S. developments outside Detroit.
